It was the end of April 2024 and I said to Casey-Rae you need to keep Sunday 19th May free, looking puzzled she said 'why?' 'casual' not wanting to give anything away, up we get Sunday morning and I set out a light breakfast before we have a shower, I manage to get my shower first allowing Casey-Rae to lay her clothes out on the bed as usual, while she is in the shower it allows me to change it for what I had bought her for the day, on the top of the pile but covered in tissue paper is a woman's Manchester City home jersey 2023/24 below a card (birthday football player on the front) saying inside 'today is your early birthday present, tickets to see your 'Blues' for the final match of the season Manchester City v West Ham United', nicely wrapped below is matching sky blue lace bra and knickers, below this is a Manchester City 1/2 zip reversible jacket (well it is England and you never know the weather), down again is the option of either white or black skinny jeans, coming out of the shower wrapped in a towel Casey-Rae looks at the bed and says 'where's my clothes gone' I just say 'change of plan got you something special' I got that look as she walks towards the pile on the bed, she removes the first piece of tissue looking bewildered she says 'what's going on?' so I said 'there is a card there for you' ripping the card open she reads the message and says 'aw that's so nice but why so early' I just say 'trust me' then it's the next package 'aw you even got me blue underwear' and on again but before she opened it I said I don't know if you will want it today, as she opened it she looked at it and said 'it is nice but probably a bit warm for it today' then she was onto the jeans and had to make up her mind which ones to wear leaving her a max of 30 minutes to do her hair and make up, with no red in sight not even Casey-Rae's lipstick that is a pale pink. We are away on time heading into Manchester and the Etihad stadium to arrive at The Collin Bell Stand reception, on arrival Casey-Rae looked at me and said 'what's going on this isn't the normal entrance and why are we so early?' I replied 'we have a couple of special tickets' her eyes light up as we were welcomed by the hostesses for the start of our 'Captains Centre Circle' package, starting with interviews from players and special guests before moving on to the five-course fine dining experience with a menu including for starters 'Celeriac/cucumber/feuille de brick', 'Lobster/samphire', 'Goats curd/lemon/sorrel' mains 'Short rib of Hereford beef/Maris piper potato', 'Duck breast/romanesco', 'Cheshire saffron/cauliflower/sea beet', desserts 'Chocolate mousse/Chantily/caramelised macadamia/chocolate shavings', 'Gelle glaze/macerated berries/spiced cream/berry mousse/white chocolate' with the meal being very much enjoyed it is time to move onto the next part of the day to listen to matchday insights and tactics from a first team performance analysts following on by going pitch side to watch the players warm up and the final moments of the pre-match build-up as the teams line up in the glass player tunnel, by this time Casey-Rae is rather hyped up, not long to kick-off but the next move is beyond her anticipation when we are lead onto the centre green and have photos taken with the clubs captain while all the matchday excitement is going on around use, it is time to go to our heated seat directly behind the dugouts, settled in our seats ready for kick-off , the atmosphere is buoyant with all expectations on the Blues, as the ball travels from one end of the pitch to the other and back the adrenalin rises and falls, it's not long before half time both teams playing a defensive game and then the stadium erupts as City puts one in the back of the net Manchester City 1 - West Ham United 0 which takes us up to the half time whistle and pre-ordered drinks and premium snacks served at our table. With the whistle about to blow for the second half and things in Cities favour, the City fans are in high spirits and 15mins into the second half the unthinkable happens,
